Remove layers of outdated architectural elements, wallcovering, millwork and lighting.
Rebrand the interior to reflect the tone of the practice and the desired guest experience.
Maximize seating, while providing varying types of seating options for guests.
Introduce functional pieces for optimal use, including lap top tables, storage & display.
Existing Flooring to remain.

The project began by stripping back decades old pealing wallcovering. The walls were then carefully resurfaced and painted a modern soft white. The introduction of a white oak perimeter beam with integrated lighting, creates soft definition of the guest space creating. A large circular reception previously clad with laminates in shades of faux wood and copper, received a new facade in natural white oak tambour. The standard commercial rubber base was replaced by a tall wood base and painted to match the walls.
Existing materials that were not budgeted for replacement were considered. New modern seating, made here in North Carolina, was placed to create a large lounge area and complimented by additional more traditional waiting area seats at entry walls. While these seats are traditional in functional the style is elevated and the materials maximized to provide a welcome respite, for any length of visit. The upholstery covered in soft tones of commercial grade faux leather, gave a supple hand while providing maximum durability and cleanability. Round terrazzo tables reflect the grand reception curve and echo the tones of the interior materials. The result, is a completely new space, welcoming and personal, modern and clean, comfortable and durable.
It is rewarding to join a small business as part of the team through the course of a project. Walking alongside them through the process, gives access to the heart of each brand. Something we hope to reflect in the finished design. With Lindsey Koerich and her team, the resounding quality is that of comfort. Not what comes to mind with orthodontics. It is in many small ways that this is achieved, treating patients and their families with care and respect.
